1. BASIC INFORMATION
The Department was established in 1961 to provide facilities to study and Research in social, economic and cultural history of India and the world. Teaching and research in the department are focused on the different aspects of Micro, Macro Economics and Indian Economy.
The curriculum make it possible for students to have comprehensive as well as in depth knowledge in Economics so as to enable them to clear competitive examinations like civil service Examinations and take up administrative, teaching and research Careers with confidence in future.
The Department of History with following main Objectives:
·Define the term economics;
·Explain the major divisions of Economics;
·Discuss the central aim of economics;
·Explain the method of economic analysis; and
·Explain the basic economic problems in terms of unlimited wants and scarce resources.
Vision of the Department
To be a centre of excellence in Economics and allied subjects, to develop value based academic principles, accelerate social evolution, creative extension and innovations through the study of Economics among all the stakeholders to enable them to face current challenges and to open up new vistas in Economics.
Mission of the Department
- To impart state-of-the-art knowledge, skill and aptitude in all stakeholders of higher education in the discipline of Economics; both theoretical and applied, irrespective of class, caste, creed and regional disparities.
- Fosters all round development of students through multi-pronged strategy and promote high- quality education through innovation in teaching, learning and research.
- Carrying quality research at national and regional levels and to impart social consciousness, individual dignity, human facts and intellectual honesty among all the stakeholders.
